How to Perform Category Upload from .csv File to osCommerce Store

Import from .csv file is very complicated process that's why you should be very attentive especially if you do it for the first time. What is more, to stay calm and do not worry about your data safety, we recommend you to do database backup before such a mass procedure.

Be sure your .csv file contains all the necessary fields and data you are going to import.

To start, press Import/Export Categories option on the main menu.

Then use browse button to select the file for import.

At the step "Select fields delimiter and quote characters" you have to specify values that will be used to separate fields data. Be careful, since if you will specify wrong values, import can fail.

Next you need to link columns from .csv file to appropriate database fields. To assign the columns you have to click on the column of your database on the left and then double-click on the corresponding column of your .csv file on the right. You can also paste the number of the matching column.

On Preview Import page you can see how your .csv file processed. Look through the columns to check whether all of them contain exact data. Some of them may be blank if you haven't assigned them or they are empty in source of .csv file. Unassigned columns will not be imported, whereas empty values will overwrite existing.

After the process finishes you will see the statistics about the upload.

So, particularly, that's it - you can enjoy the results. Store Manager for osCommerce will help you to get the things done with higher level of efficiency and plenty of saved time.
